CLEAN CONVENTIONAL & DISTRIBUTED GENERATION

Development of power generation opportunities with pipeline natural gas, LNG, CNG and LPG

  • Distributed generation projects for remote mining and petroleum customers operating on island mode
  • Distributed generation in support of grid stability, peak shaving as an integrated support system of renewable energy strategies

Market Driven Growth in Distributed Generation

  • Regions in Latin America pushing to shift from power generation using diesel and HFO to LNG and LPG, due to:
      • Economics to liquify, transport and re-gasify LNG continue to improve;
        • Increased availability with natural gas exported from USA
        • Countries/Companies seeking to reduce energy costs while quantifyingly improving their carbon footprint
      • Small scale LNG is now available; portable shipping containers are competitive and Medium scale LNG costs continue downward with the use of floating storage regassification units (FRSUs)

COGENERATION

Depth of experience in long-term energy supply agreements based on cogeneration power plants:

Natural gas, LNG, flared gas fuel fired cogeneration plants

  • Produce electricity, steam and/or chilled water,
  • Designed around gas turbines and heat recovery steam generators (HRSG),
  • Configured in simple cycle (no steam turbine included) or combined cycle (steam turbine is included)

Biomass fired cogeneration plants

  • Produce electricity, steam and/or chilled water,
  • Designed around steam boilers and turbines, configured in simple cycle, or
  • Designed around one Organic Rankine Cycle configuration

BIOMASS

Biomass; produced from organic materials such as sugarcane bagasse, wood chips, sawdust, bark and other agricultural wastes

  • An inexpensive and abundant source of clean fuel
  • Latin America has a big potential for Power generation fueled by biomass :
    • Ethanol world production is expected to increase from 108 billion liters to 134 billion liters by 2024
    • LATAM produces 26% of the worldwide ethanol production
    • Vinasse is a byproduct of ethanol production, for every liter of ethanol, 10 to 13 liters of Vinasse are produced
    • Countries like Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Colombia and Peru are target countries due to sugar cane and ethanol production
  • Team have worked on more than +1GW of projects with various biofuels
